lo mein cake…

i decorated a couple of cakes for a special friends turning 10.  when asked what they liked, they both responded with various chinese food dishes but one specifically requested a teddy bear.  hm.

so i decided to decorate one with a bowl of veggie lo main noodles with a fortune cookie birthday message.  this was my first attempt at making noodles.  now i don’t have a pasta noodle maker or dough extruder but managed with a rolling pin, sharp knife, and my own two hands.  making the veggies was the fun part.

bowl is fondant covered rice krispie treats, everything else is fondant.  next time, i think i’ll make the noodles a bit more saucy.  a side of dumplings would have been nice too!

for the teddybear cake, it was a a straightforward teddy bear with a fortune cookie.  i really wanted the teddy bear to hold the cookie, but his little arms were just not strong enough.  i was surprised it survived the birthday party.

teddy bear is fondant covered rice krispie treats (which the birthday girl devoured) and everything else is fondant.
