lemonade stand

school starts this coming monday and we couldn’t let the ‘summer’ end without a lemonade stand!

with all the back-to-school shopping going on, we thought it would be a great idea to raise money for our local youth organization, East Atlanta Kids Club, and their school supply drive.

luckily we are blocks away from our neighborhood East Atlanta Village, so we set up shop in front of our friend’s music store, Earthshaking Music.

now, i’ve never claimed to be a good cook and that goes for drinks too, so i settled with country time lemonade mix, both regular and pink lemonade. it was my hope to serve only organic lemonade but our local grocers doesn’t carry any.  next time, i’ll make the extra trip to trader joe’s or whole foods market.

a group of local kids volunteered to prepare and serve and walk around the village promoting the lemonade.  they even came up with a song:

lemonade, lemonade

get your ice cold lemonade

if you don’t

you’ll get hot

and you will ROT!!!

this is what we used:

lemonade stand

banner, hand-painted

table

pitchers: one for regular, one for pink

coolers: one for ice, one for pre-made lemonade

cups, small 8oz

money bin

stand accessories (tablecloth, bowl of oranges, marker to write names on cups, snacks for volunteers, patio umbrella)

trash can and recyclables (we actually washed cups to re-use throughout the day as well to help minimize trash)

lemonade

mix

bottled water

ice

the kids were GREAT and at the end of a 4-hour day, we made $113 for the East Atlanta Kids Club School Supply drive!!!
